Sooth Away The Stresses Of The Day With The Wonders Of Aromatherapy
There’s a whole new world out there for you with aromatherapy. Whether you are feeling washed out from a hectic day and need to unwind, or need a little pick-me-up to get you through the day, there’s an essential oil out there for you.
Each essential oil has its own individual property and is used for different reasons. But whatever you need there is an oil out here fo you. If its a bit of get up and go you need to add some Basil to your morning bath or at the end of the day unwind with some Vetivert.
Aromatherapy is all about inhaling aromas through the nose which then trigger off something in the brain that can affect your mood and state of mind. Volitile oils are extracted from plants and then used in different methods for us to experience. You can add oils to a diffuser in your room, or to get them directly into your skin and muscles they can be mixed with a carrier oil and given as a massage or added to your bath water.
You can use four main methods; all are effective for your needs:
Add drops of oil to your bath water
Put some oil in a diffuser
If you enjoy a massage add an essential oil to your regular massage oil
You can add essential oils to water in a spray bottle and use as a room freshener
If you want to relax in your hot tub, add no more than 10 drops of oil or mixture of oils to your water and soak away the stress. If its a massage you prefer add up to 6 drops of oils to a carrier oil of your choice, Jojoba is a good all round carrier. It’s important not to use essential oils neat on your skin as they will burn. Essential oils make a great air freshener. Mix some with plain water or a combination of water and a high proof alcohol like Vodka, put into a spray bottle and there you have it. The alcohol is there to help the fragrance last longer, but don’t try drinking it! Diffusers and burners are the most popular method where you just add a few drops to the water.
If you are a candle lover then you can buy candles. They not only release the oils, but give a great glow and feel to any room. Don’t be fooled when buying them that they don’t smell very much. Their aroma is only released once lit and the wax begins to melt. Fragrant candles smell nice but don’t confuse them with aromatherapy candles, you won’t get the same relaxing efffects…
If you are more creative then you can always make your own candles. This way you can create the aroma that you want. If you have plain candles you can always add a few drops of oil to the molten wax, you will still get the same effect.
Aromatherapy is versatile and oils can be mixed in many combinations for all your needs. If you get the mix right, you can introduce peace and happiness into your home and ease anxiety. For those that suffer restless sleep, by using aromatherapy you can now enjoy a good night’s sleep, every night… You can even ease those arthritic joints and sore muscles by using an aromatherapy rub. Give it a go, it’s easy!
