Panic Attacks Cause
So what is the cause of Panic Attacks?
Panic attacks can appear to be the result of just nothing and come from nowhere. So we ask ouselves, what is the root cause of panic attacks? One moment you’re fine, the next you’re shaking and crying. Hence, many patients fail to realize that panic attacks are result of nowhere. Initially the attack is caused by a certain stimulus. It could be a particular person, a place, or even a smell. Anyways for preventing the panic attacks; it is must to lower down the causes.
Now there can be an internal or external cause of panic attack. Internal causes of panic attacks are memories, feelings, certain thoughts, and physical sensations like headaches. While external causes of panic attacks include sudden changes in lighting, temperature, or sound level, strange smells or sounds, and certain places.
Now then why does a particular taste or smell causes a panic attack? Try Think of a person having peanut allergy. Also, a normal person’s body or immune system does not react to the peanuts in anyways. However to a person having an allergy with peanut reacts to peanut in a deadly way. Similarly, the panic attack sufferer may have inherited a very sensitive nervous system that overreacts to harmless stimuli.
How does it all happen? Well let’s say your trigger is the texture of linen. You are travelling, and you spend the night at a motel. You get into the bed having linen sheets. For some strange reason, you begin to sweat. You definitely do not want to have another panic attack. And, your anxiety builds up when the attack turns full-fledged.
STAYING AWAY FROM TRIGGERS AND THINGS THAT CAUSE PANIC ATTACKS:
Ideally, you need to avoid triggers. If you are not exposed to your triggers, you won’t have panic attacks. With the linen example, you can substitute other fabrics for linen. Also if you are sensitive to changes in lighting, you can avoid dance clubs. Little changes to your lifestyle can go a long way to protect your sanity.
FACE UP TO YOUR TRIGGERS :
There are times when you wish to avoid panic attacks or its other causes, but they are just unavoidable. As if it’s difficult to avoid the smell of a cigarette as we can’t control on whether a passerby smokes or stops. Hence, some patients themselves try to know their sensitivity by repeating such unpleasant stimulus.
You might be apprehensive about trying this, and who wouldn’t be? Nobody loves to get a panic attack on a purpose. However, getting used to your triggers will reduce the frequency of your panic attacks in the long run. Like persons suffering from phobias do expose themselves to the kind of fear. Initially they are face to some kind of threat but slowly they lose their fears.
It is imperative that before confronting and taking on the cause of panic attacks, that you always seek the advice of a doctor or a psychiatrist. They have some long or short run triggers and exercise that helps you to fight with your triggers. If you are a heart patient, then it is not worth for you.
For the most peole, it is generally best to increase the exposure slowly. Just don’t take tension, if you even fail to fight with the cause of panic attacks.. It is fine as everything needs time to heal.
